Ste-Agathe is located 40 kilometres south of the downtown area of Manitoba's capital city, Winnipeg, or 24 kilometres south of Winnipeg's Perimeter Highway.

Ste-Agathe has around 500 residents, the majority of them of francophone origin. The village is part of the Rural Municipality of Ritchot, which has a population of 5300. A community of entrepreneurs, Ste-Agathe is also one of the few towns in Manitoba (particularly francophone towns) that consists primarily of young families.

Situated on the west bank of the Red River, in the middle of the floodplain, Ste-Agathe is surrounded by farmland growing mainly wheat and canola.
